  1. These sound very tempting BUT – 21 years ago I made the move to Hungary. Turns out today it is the safest most beautiful and least expensive place to live. It is in the heart of Europe if you want to get in your car and travel – go to the countryside to buy from farmers – fruits, vegetables, raw milk and milk products and even meat. I had no choice – when I figured my style of living on my $1000 retirement budget – it would have been a sad fact anywhere. Cashed in my 401K and even with the penalty for early withdrawal – it bought me a 1000 sq ft downtown apartment with high ceilings and lots of windows. By now, I've become a dual citizen which means free domestic travel and medical insurance for under $40/month ALL INCLUSIVE. Can't tell you how relieved I am not having to worry about ending up on the streets for my old age. Now there is also a country house and a vineyard. Was a realtor in NC so if you have questions – please feel free to ask. I'm retired and would love to help anyone else who wants to enjoy their golden years.

  2. Mexico number 3 are you kidding definitely not safe thousands die from drug cartels wars so you can get kills by simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time and a place that requires $1500 to live comfortably and a average person makes $300 a month is not stable vacation in Cancun peninsula is nice but I would live there even the Guatemalans don’t want to stay there

  23. 2019. Keep in mind and download the apps to earthquakes and volcanoes 🌋. Most of these really nice places are near active volcanoes. And are on the Ring of Fire that has the HUGE quakes monthly. Just make sure you include fault lines and volcanoes in your search for paradise….things have changed and are changing. Im looking to get away from the ring of fire. I already live near two volcanos. One blew up in 1980. Not going to move from the pan into the fire…. just saying to be aware of Mutha Nature too.

In Europe if you yust look for cheap its probably Bulgaria or Albania BUT cheap Counrtys have most the downgrades of a desolate security in this Countrys.

  27. Its simple…ned a place with GOOD WEATHER not cold….cheap….friendly people that ACCEPT you there….most of the cheap countries around the world are Nationalist people that dont want foreigners near them !!

  35. Fake news

  36. I no longer trust or rely on international living/retirement recommendations from either of the "Big 2" English language sources – International Living and Live and Invest Overseas. I subscribed to both for years and learned that their recommendations always follow their commercial interests beyond just the subscriptions. They make their money off of deals with local real estate agents and developers in the countries they recommend as well as from their expensive seminars they hold in their recommended countries. Do your own research; there are wonderful blogs from English speakers in every country on earth filled with great information on moving and living in the country they now live in (or did in the past). But in the same way as with the "Big Two" watch for tip-offs that they are commercially involved in getting you to move there – in the same way as the others, by being agents themselves or by working on commissions from local agents.

  37. Columbia,?

  38. Malaysia …$6 for six persons in a good local restaurant, including beer!! I know Malaysia well. This lady is exaggerating. Take what she say with a pinch of salt.

  41. Emily P
Costa Rica is a beautiful and safe place with the rain forest and waterfall but it is definitely not cheap. Lunch and dinner are about the same as in the US from $10 to $30, we bought milk, fruit and veggie both at supermarket and farmer market same price as US or more but not as fresh. I am from Houston, TX

  42. Retiring means visiting the hospital more than you want to. And really, you don't want to do that in any of the countries listed here. Not even Spain or Portugal.

  43. who the hell wants to go to Columbia with its drug problem…Crime Remains a Major Concern. Crime and safety continue to be major concerns of expats considering moving to Medellín and expats living in the city. There are parts of Medellín where you shouldn't go, particularly after dark,…Mexico is just as bad especially with so many wanting to get into the USA…Costa Rica is a no no too..1. Too touristy. 2. Too over-priced. 3. Too over-run by expats…Panama has a serious problem with electricity and water supplies which fail frequently…

  44. Except Malaysia and Thailand all other countries mentioned are run by drug cartels and Mafia.

  45. Cheapest countries are only good to visit, NOT to live in when you're retired.

  46. Whatever how cheapest the cost of living of these 10 countries…i still love my motherland Philippines…coz there is more fun in the Philippines😊😊😊

  47. What about the Philippines?

  48. Why retire so far !!! there are so many counties in nevada that are empty!! Montana, big sky country !!!!! I wouldn't go to malasya, or Philippines….not even, costa rica,.. A friend of mine spent 6 months in costa rica, rented a place, he was robbed, his laptop, his documents, his money…..and he thinks the people where he rented knew the thieves…
